The Early Years Professional Development Committee consists of representatives of provincially funded Training Institutions and Support Sites. Committee members share their insights, needs assessment observations and professional development plans in order to coordinate, communicate and deliver quality professional development for all early childhood educators and other early years professionals in Nova Scotia.
is the Coordinator of the Early Childhood Development Support Centre located at NSCC Burridge Campus. Melissa joined the support centre in September 2015. She has been supporting children and their families since 2008. Melissa hold a degree of Child & Youth Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University.

is the Program Services Coordinator in the Early Years Community Development Centre (NSCECE). She has been supporting Early Childhood Educators in their practice since 2005. Carrie has a strong interest in inclusion, diversity & equity; social/emotional learning; leadership; and play-led learning. Carrie holds certificates in Adult Education and in NonProfit Sector Management in addition to her Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

is the Early Years Support Site Coordinator at Jane Norman College. She has been an enthusiastic early childhood educator for more than 35 years. She is extremely passionate about play based emergent learning. Jane has 17 years of experience implementing emergent programming. She has been an instructor and workshop presenter with Jane Norman College for 28 years. She hopes to have the opportunity to meet with, and support, many Early Childhood Educators by providing resources and professional development.

Karen grew up in Louisbourg and has been involved in the fields of early childhood and adult education across Canada, in Central America and abroad for over 20 years. She holds a Bachelor of Child Studies degree from Mount Saint Vincent University, a diploma in Adult Education from Dalhousie and a Masters of Education degree (Curriculum and Instructional Design) from Concordia University.

She began her career as an early childhood educator and director in 1994 and remained close to the sector for the next 15 years working for the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial and as the family literacy coordinator for l’Équipe d’alphabétisation-NÉ, before joining the CPRPS team in January 2018.

She first became involved with the early childhood sector in 2002, working as project coordinator for two joint IWK and MSVU initiatives to develop training modules, Supporting Children with Autism in Child Care Settings, and Promoting Positive Behaviour in Child Care Settings.
