Event Details

This workshop was designed to help ECEs develop skills and strategies for effective communication with parents and an opportunity to develop awareness regarding the unique needs and competing stress encountered by both families and students.

This workshop will focus on building positive relationships, facilitating difficult conversations, and resolving differences so a child can grow and succeed.

The core objectives of this session include:

 ·      Gaining a richer understanding of the unique and complex needs of the children and families we serve.  Some areas of focus include issues relating to mental health and addictions, working with blended families, and respecting cultural values and beliefs.

 ·      Identifying ways to build relationships and facilitate difficult conversations with families, community partners, and coworkers.  An emphasis will be on exploring communication styles that might promote effective and positive working relationships, including the role of ‘empathy’ and ‘acceptance’ when we cannot seem to agree.

 ·      Reflecting on connections between personal experience and theory-including recognizing our own unique style of communicating-as it relates to relationships with families, community partners and coworkers.

This is a two part series for a total of 6 PD hours.  Part 1 took place on September 20th.

Cost: $57.50 (tax included)
