Description: This workshop is an introduction to inclusion specifically focused on including children with socio-emotional differences. There is a focus on strategies to include children in all parts of the day & schedule. Topics include disability identity, community building, emotional literacy & socially inclusive behaviour management. Socio-emotional inclusion is a holistic practice & this workshop will provide tools for participants to help build their own community-based classroom. objectives are :
1) To gain a fundamental understanding of social inclusion.
2) To learn strategies to build community within the classroom and amongst peers.
3) To understand the concept of disability identity
4) To gain confidence in ECE ability to work with children with diverse socio-emotional abilities.

Presenter Biography; Marly Nauss has a Bachelor of Child and Youth Study from MSVU and is in her final year of her Masters of Child and Youth Study. During their Masters they have spent much time studying the factors behind pre-school expulsion and the benefits of mindfulness curriculums. Marly has spent five years co-creating a re-integration curriculum for preschoolers and five year old’s who had been previously asked to leave their group care settings.
