Description:
The Leading the Way workshop series will provide an overview of the administration of early learning and care programs and the role of the administrator. The competence of the administrator is integral to the success of the organization. The skill and leadership ability of the administrator in a variety of disciplines is critical to the optimal and efficient functioning of the organization
This series will be of interest to those Early Childhood Educators interested in, or currently working in administration positions. The series may be taken inclusively or as single day sessions.
A range of topics related to effective leadership, management and administration in early learning and care pro-grams will be covered.

An early learning and care program is all about relationships. The leadership of the administrator is critical in establishing the culture of the organization. In this session we will focus on how to create a healthy organization-al culture and examine how this contributes to employee engagement and impacts retention and recruitment.

Presenter Biography: Susan Willis recently retired as the Executive Director of Point Pleasant Child Care Cen-tre, a position she held for over forty years. She believes that early education and care is the foundation for later success in life and has dedicated her career to ensuring that children benefit from an intentional, enriched and caring environment delivered by highly qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic teaching staff.

In addition to her position at PPCCC Susan was part time faculty at the Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education; President of Willis & Associates: Early Learning and Care Consultants and is Course Coordinator for the Early Childhood Education Administrator Certificate Course at Mount Saint Vincent University. Throughout her career she has been involved in countless organizations and committees and always remains a passionate advocate for quality in programs for young children.
