Free (Online event)

This new professional learning community is designed for early childhood program leaders interested in developing skills and deepening their understanding by investigating practice using the Whole Leadership Framework developed by the McCormick Centre.

Member learning and inquiry will focus on following questions arising in their own workplaces to explore Leadership Essentials and their roles as pedagogical and administrative leaders. The group meets virtually on the second Tuesday of the month.

A focus on Capable, Confident and Curious: Nova Scotia’s Early Learning Curriculum Framework and Quality Matters will help members bring those tools to life within their programs. Other topics for exploration could include employment standards, cultural competence in the work-place, shared services, and family engagement.

The group is facilitated by Carrie Melsom, EYCDC Program Services Coordinator. Members include Directors and others at any level of program-wide leadership. There is no charge to participate.

Members gain:

  • Increased knowledge and awareness of leadership issues
  • increased awareness of personal leadership strengths and areas for growth
  • Increased personal awareness of one’s own values, beliefs, perspectives, motives, and interpersonal needs
  • Practical tools, supports and links to shared resources
  • A network of supportive colleagues

A community of practice is a special kind of professional development where the questions that are explored come from the participants and their own work experiences. Sessions are highly interactive and focused on supporting each other in our best thinking. Topics will ebb and flow over the 10 sessions and we will likely re-visit some topics many times digging a little more deeply each time. If this sounds like something you are interested in please join us.
